Come See Me at the Art Shows in September!!!

Why?
Well, there are two (main) reasons.
1. Some amazing talent shows up for these things, and
2. I will be selling some stuff that I don't sell in the shop!

For example, these really cool leaf pendants will be making an appearance:

The leaves in these babies were made by Mother Nature herself, so no two are alike. They are coated with some kind of wonderful silvery/gold metallic substance that looks really rad with the silver wire, if I do say so myself. I love how delicate they remain, though. You can still see all the veins and beautiful intricacies that Nature puts into her work. I carefully cut and grind the glass to reflect each leaf and its unique shape. I'm proud of these pendants, if you can't tell, and they are even better in person.

So! If you live in North Alabama, or near(ish), you should mark your calendars for the second and third Saturdays in September and come experience these art shows. I made a full post about the shows, here, and that post includes links to the websites which offer more details. I'll be sure to mention the shows at least one more time before I hit the road for Alabama, as well. You know, just in case anyone misses these posts.

Happy Hump Day! Have a lovely rest of the week! My parents are in town this weekend so you probably won't hear from me until next week!

Cloth and Glass

Art isn't the only thing I sandwich between glass.

My cloth and glass creations can be found for sale here.

I Almost Forgot!!!

The ever popular Glass Bundle Necklace is back in the shop as well!

I have two listed that are ready to ship!

I'm quite proud of this design and can't believe I haven't blogged about it before. This necklace has made it to the front page of Etsy several times and rivals my tree pendants in popularity. Each piece of stacked glass is meticulously cut and ground. These beauties are painstaking to make, as I hope you can tell from the photo.

Give 'em some love! And happy Hump Day to you all!

New Stuff in the Shop!

As promised, new items are up in the shop!

This Violet Branches Pendant can be found here. And in case you were wondering, yes I did take that photograph. I obviously have quite a thing for trees.

I also listed some other fine art print pendants, which can be found here. All of my fine art print pendants include either prints of original drawings of mine, or original photos of mine. You won't find them anywhere else.

I haven't listed a hand-painted grey tree in a while. This one can be found here. If you are interested in other tree pendants in a variety of colors, click here.

I'm happy to have some paintings listed as well! Right now there is just this turquoise tree painting and a green tree painting in the shop, but I will be listing more later this week. You can find them here.

Tree Paintings

I created some small acrylic paintings to take to the Dunwoody Art Festival with me. I wanted to share them with you all before I go (the festival is this weekend!). Whatever doesn't sell down there I will be listing at my KeelyB shop when I return home next week!

The red and green trees are 5 by 7 inches in size. Custom orders for pendants and/or jewelry are always welcome.

I think the turquoise trees are my favorite. They're small, at just 3 by 4 inches each, but would look great as a pair together on a wall. I've been on a huge turquoise kick lately. My old studio in Florence had turquoise walls and I miss that room so much! I think I'm going to paint our old wooden kitchen chairs a lovely turquoise color one of these weekends...

In case I don't get to write again before the show, I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Prayer Flag Pendants

I've had Tibetan Prayer Flags hanging in my living quarters, no matter where they have been, since the age of 15. Even though they are indoors, I always make sure to hang them where the drafts will catch them so that they can work their magic. A few days ago it hit me that I should make prayer flag pendants. So I scanned a prayer flag, shrunk it, and printed it on matte photo paper. I hope they bring the wearer a sense of tranquility. They will appear in the shop later today or tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday everyone.

A Few More Trees

EDIT: Right after I posted this, I realized that my Etsy Mini is indeed working and updating! How funny. Just when you complain about something it works. No complaints here! I am leaving the links up to make browsing easier anyhow. Enjoy.

Since my Etsy mini (to the right) doesn't seem to be updating itself like it used to (maybe Etsy changed that? Do they not show your most recently listed items anymore? I don't know...Etsy is changing so rapidly that I have a hard time keeping up with it. If you happen to know what's up, please feel free to tell me!) I decided to share a few more tree pendants with you in case you didn't realize I've been listing new things.

All of my hand painted tree pendants can be found by clicking here.

A super mini blue tree pendant. For sale here.

A red winter tree, here.

And another blue tree on torn paper, which will appear in the shop shortly.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week thus far! I am anxious for my week to be nearing its end because my sister and her boyfriend are in town this weekend! I am filling my time with productivity in the meantime. Happy Tuesday.

Trees!

These, along with a few others, will be available in the shop shortly!

I think the red one is my favorite. The heart-shaped leaf concept is one that's been occupying some space in my brain for a while now. I might make a proper (as in big) painting of it some day.

Start at the Beginning

OK, so here I am. After neglecting my first blog to the point of its eventual deletion, I am back and ready to try this thing again. I really feel like I have a lot to gain from blogging, and nothing to lose, so lets do this and see where it goes.

I suppose the easiest place to start is at the beginning. I'll begin by introducing myself. Hello, my name is Keely Finnegan. I am the artist behind both KeelyB (B is for my middle name, Beth) and StudioFinn. I am 25 years old, which is turning out to be a rather pivotal age for me (quarter life crisis, anyone?). I have an art degree from the University of North Alabama, and since graduating in December of 2008 I have been working at a local coffee shop part time and making art on the side. I love my "day" job (it keeps me social and the boss is great) but my ultimate goal is to do what I really love full time, which is create. So...I am mainly starting this blog because I want to get serious about my art.

I have found that if you want more of something in your life, you have to consciously make room for it, and I want art to be my full time job someday. My hope is that writing a blog, sharing with others, and documenting my progress (or even lack thereof) will help me with that goal and provide some kind of accountability, be it from myself or from my readers. I do not claim to be a great writer, and this whole blogging thing is going to be highly experimental for me, so please bear with me as I explore (and pardon the comma splices). Hopefully you will find some points of interest here as these pages grow, and we can share and learn from each other.
